Bartelt BIC-L Cartoner (formerly the IMC Cartoner)
The BIC-L is a servo-driven, horizontal, intermittent motion cartoner designed for packaging food, consumer goods, pharmaceuticals, tobacco, and more. It features a multi-head rotary carton feeder, servo-driven product inserter, and servo rotary flap tuckers, delivering excellent control at speeds up to 60 cycles per minute.
This machine stands out for its operational flexibility, capable of handling a full range of products, including bags, pouches, trays, flow-wraps, or various loose or stacked products. Its open-frame design provides excellent product visibility and easy access for cleaning. Thanks to servo technology, changeovers between products are quick and simple, switching from flap gluing to flap tucking. The BIC-L also supports a wide variety of carton shapes.
Engineered for efficiency, flexibility, and reliability, the BIC-L requires minimal maintenance. Its servo-driven technology reduces mechanical complexity, with 50% fewer components than traditional chain shaft systems, resulting in greater uptime and lower operating costs. Available in three standard index models (6”, 9”, and 12”), the BIC-L can be seamlessly integrated upstream or downstream into an automated packaging system with other equipment, including Bartelt pouching machines, to create a turnkey packaging solution from a single source.

- Folded and pre-glued cartons are manually placed into the horizontal powered carton magazine
- Carton blanks are intermittently removed from the bottom of the magazine using a servo-driven two-head rotary carton feeder with multiple vacuum cups mounted on spindles
- Cartons are opened and positioned between the carton transport lugs, then conveyed to the product loading station
- Photo-eye sensors detect carton presence
- Products previously placed into the infeed conveyor buckets are side-transferred into cartons by the intermittent motion product inserter
